If dining is theatre, then Seline Rooftop Restaurant is one of Lefkosia’ s main stages the spotlight is currently in focus and intentions of the socialites are fixed, unblinking, with their anticipating gaze. I recently found myself at Seline for a business dinner with a special guest colleagues, curious to see if the reality lived up to the compelling preview.

A Pleasing Setting

You walk in, under the clear skies, the interior or rather outdoor design sets the scene: a blend of velvet, shimmering glass, and soft lighting that feels intimate and exciting. Table offers a front-row seat to a performance where food and ambience are equal stars. Perhaps Costas and Antigone too. People meeting up, kissing, small chats, smiles, inquiries, generally a good vibe. Vivere amore vivere!

Escalating performance with a tempo, a beat of music, drinks, cocktails, the stranger Brando looking from a distance, some looking around to see if anyone notable is there after all we’re in Cyprus.

Sur le plan gastronomique, under the guidance of Chef Nikos Psilos, whose impressive resume includes Zuma London, the kitchen delivers a Japanese-fusion menu that genuinely thrills. Eyes, looks, stares, appetites and culinary curiosities. For us, we shared an array of dishes, nigiri crafted with delicate color palette and palated precision, daring rolls, and bold plates like the Wagyu kakuni that balanced technique with imagination. The food is, Sans doute, the headline act.

We paired our meal with cocktails from mixologist Dimitris Kasvikis, and each creation arrived with flavour but with a story. The service was attentive, seamlessly catering to our table without intrusion, allowing our conversation and the playful energy of the room to take center stage. The Cucumber Smash emerged as the table’s unanimous favorite cocktail, perfectly balancing gin with refreshing shiso and citrus. It facilitated the engrossing conversation by allowing the gin tones become the catalyst not a distraction.

The Culinary Performance

A Lingering Encore

So, is Seline the right stage and for what? For a sophisticated, shared dining experience with a standout menu, absolutely. It’s a welcome addition to the Nicosia scene, perfect for when you want the evening to be an event. The food is well thought of, professionally prepared, for tha esthetically driven; well presented, “plated” as a Chef would call, the setting is beautiful, and the overall experience lingers pleasantly. For a special occasion or to impress a visitor, Seline delivers a memorable performance.
