A Delightful Brunch at Kafeneio Mikri Rodia

Kafeneio Mikri Rodia

Located in the lovely streets of old Aglantzia, Kafeneio Mikri Rodia is the perfect spot for a truly Cypriot brunch. Combining traditional Cypriot flavors with a rustic and inviting atmosphere, Kafeneio Mikri Rodia which translates to “The Little Pomegranate Tree”, feels like a pleasant journey back in time, where the pace slows, and we return to our yiayia’s backyard, where the food tells a fable of personal flavors and homebound love.

The outdoor seating is shaded by beautiful carob trees, creating a restful ambiance, while the interior exudes character with its warm, stone walls, antique chandeliers, and carefully chosen decorative items. The blend of tradition and comfort makes this space truly special, inviting one to settle in and enjoy the relaxed pace of the weekend.

The brunch buffet is a feast prepared with local ingredients and recipes. From prasisi salata made with traditional ingredients, to a vibrant tomato medley orektiko, each dish is freshly prepared, full of flavor, and doused with aromatic Cypriot olive oil. The hot dishes, including sautéed spinach with tomatoes, a rich and savory pie, and perfectly cooked eggs best enjoyed with the café’s freshly baked, homemade bread that comes with uniquely Cypriot toasty-ness and ever fresh bouquet of aromas.

A pleasing selection of homemade spreads and jams, such as smooth tahini and very tasty honey which hints of the hills of Oros Machaira.

For a light and refreshing dessert, I tried and highly recommend the creamy yogurt topped with dried fruits and nuts provides a satisfying finish. Apólafsi!

Additionally, the café serves refreshing drinks, including an elegantly presented iced tea spritzer (photo posted by me😊). Whether you choose a table outdoors beneath the trees or inside among the rustic furnishings, the warm and inviting atmosphere is a compliment to enjoy quality time at a Café with friend or family.

Our visit to Kafeneio Mikri Rodia and experience eventually, was more than just a meal, it was a tribute to habitually Cypriot, hospitable moments that drew a memory in me. With its cozy setting and thoughtfully prepared dishes, it’s a must-visit destination, and I’m happy to share my experience and recommendation to all my friends and lovely readers. Absolutely heartwarming!

Lots of love,
