A. G. Leventis Gallery Reopens To The Public

A.G. Leventis Gallery

The A. G. Leventis Gallery has announced its reopening on Wednesday, 7 October 2020 with three different actions.

In collaboration with Alpha Square and directed by Andreas Araouzos, Oudry’s famous painting ‘Comédiens Italiens dans un Jardin / Italian Comedians in a Garden’ from the Paris Collection comes to life and all the characters respond to the call of art, inviting the public to re-visit the A. G. Leventis Gallery.

A second video follows where the same characters from the painting come to life and explain to visitors how the new protection measures against Covid-19 are applied during a visit to the museum. The promotional film could be considered allegorical as the public is also called upon to adapt to the new reality imposed by dealing with the pandemic, but without art and culture missing from our daily lives.

Both of these interactions were filmed in the middle of the lockdown, while for the third interaction, friends, collaborators, personalities from the Cypriot society were invited to choose from the collections of the A. G. Leventis Gallery “the painting they love” and talk about it. Among them, the wife of the President of the Republic, the Commissioner of the A. G. Leventis Foundation Fotini Papadopoulou, the Commissioner for the Protection of the Child’s Rights Despo Michaelidou, the Deputy Minister of Tourism Savvas Perdios, Demetris Lottides and others. With the general title ‘A. G. Leventis Gallery / I love this painting’, the short films have already started circulating and showing on the internet, on the Gallery’s YouTube channel and on other Social Media. Alpha Cyprus is also the communication sponsor of this action and has been showing the films since August 2020.

At the same time, the A. G. Leventis Gallery chooses to keep in touch with the public and online through various programs that will be announced soon, including educational programs (both online and in the Gallery), virtual exhibitions and other activities.

We would like to thank the Association of Friends of the Leventis Municipal Museum of Nicosia & the A. G. Leventis Gallery for the sponsorship and our partners Alpha Square, Caretta Films, Coffee Films and Appios Communications.
